Prequalification is required for highway and public works construction.
State licensing requirements exist for plumbing contractors
only.
- Department of Transportation contracts in excess of $100,000
require a 5 percent bid guarantee with a payment/performance
bond in at least the amount of the bid.
- Applicants must submit experience information and financial
statements, Bid limits are set based on the financial statements.
Processing of applications takes on the average three weeks.
- Requirements are similar to highway prequalification. Processing
of applications take a maximun of four weeks. There were 687
prequalified contractors a and subcontractors in 25 building
construction and specialty classifications as of October 1995.
- Trade examinations are required for plumbing licenses. The exams
are given once a month and require 70% to pass. Four years of
verifiable experience is also required.
- There is a recovery fund that provides for a maximum of $20,000
per judgement and $50,000 per contractor.
- The examination application processing time is approximately
three months. As of October 1994 there were 3,300 plumbing contractors
and 4,700 journeyman plumbers.
Indiana does not have reciprocity agreements with any other
states.
